After the first two parts of the kids’ winter break, they headed to the Swank household for some quality grandparent time. Grandpa tells us they averaged about 5 miles per day on their bikes.
Their Aunt Liz whisked them away for a day at Waterfront Park!
Meanwhile, Becky and I packed our new duffel (thanks, Mom!) and headed for San Francisco. Note the background; our house is a disaster at this point.
We did a walking tour of Chinatown, and discovered many things.
We had brunch at an awesome place in the Mission.
We redeemed one of my Christmas presents on Pier 39.
And did another walking tour in the area, discovering many more awesome things!
We discovered the Airbnb of cars, and drove out to the Muir Woods for some hiking.
…and around Point Reyes for some sightseeing.
We saw a couple of whales out by this lighthouse!
Here’s our intrepid little car. It was zippy and fun.
We visited GitHub orbiting HQ for some worktime, too.
And managed to find an awesome bunch of people to spend New Year’s Eve with.
Afterwards, a quiet New Year’s Day walk was in order.
We had a great week, blending adventure and relaxation. Our lodgings helped a lot, they were a great refuge, and very restful.
