This challenge was about artsiness, and we did really well.
The Artists Repertory Theater (NOTE: as I’m writing this, clicking that link puts a swear word on your screen. Fair warning.) puts on lots of high-concept plays and shows. This is the height of small-venue live performance in Portland, and the shows are cerebral, laced with metaphor, and beautifully presented. We attended The Monster Builder, a play about architecture. Yes, really.
It went a little over our head, but the actors were great, the program provided a guide to the inside jokes about architectural history, and the stage and sets were immaculate. We emerged confused, but maybe just a little bit better people. Check it out if you like this kind of thing.
