Bolon Island State Park

This is part of our Oregon State Park challenge! Check out our progress here.

This one was a bit hard to find. We cruised around on Bolon Island for a while, not seeing a sign. We parked in a county park (which was really crummy), and walked around as much as we could.

We even went halfway across the bridge to check out the view.

And the seals.

Then we got in the car and headed back to our campsite, and spotted the actual state park! The website isn’t helpful at all in finding this tiny little parking lot.

We found that there was a Geocache right near the parking lot. We searched for 5 minutes or so before Lucy spotted it.

The trail wends through a cormorant nesting area. The leaves here are covered with… guano. The kids still call this the “poop hike.”

There’s another cache near the end of the trail. Ben found this one after 10 minutes of searching.

Another one off the list! (Actually, it turns out we didn’t have this one on the list. But we’re still closer to being done.)
