We tried an experiment this year. Ordinarily we schedule lots of adventures, outings, and activities with every weekend and free moment, and when we are home, there are pretty tight limits on screen time.

Pajama Day turns all that on its head. For a whole day, we don’t go anywhere, and we don’t even change out of our PJs. There was a schedule to the day, but apart from meals, a slot for a board game, and a movie, all screen time limits were lifted, and everybody could do what they wanted, so long as it was at home.

This was a rousing success. Everybody liked the change of pace, and we’re thinking of making this a quarterly tradition. We’ve already scheduled the next one for the day before Christmas!
