This is part of our 100 Things in 2015 challenge. Here’s the full list.
Now here’s a challenge that was harder than it seemed. The idea seems simple enough: take a photo in the style of Dear Photograph, and maybe submit it to that site.
Well, it got towards the end of the year, and our opportunities seemed to vanish. Our last chance was on our way to the San Juan Islands (where we’re escaping until New Year’s). Fortunately Becky scrounged up a photo from her shoebox, and it was in a place we knew still existed, and was close enough to our route that we could make it happen.
Here’s the result. The original is from 1997, when Becky lived in old-town Tacoma, and her and a friend were walking around, messing with a camera.
Here in 2015, it was 37 degrees and pouring down rain. This was our absolute last chance to do this, because both time and space and old photographs were in short supply. We managed to pull it off.
But it’s not as great as it could be. We don’t think we’ll submit this one to the site, but we do intend to try again. And this time we’ll take our time and do it right.
