#29: Visit the Portland Japanese Garden

This one has been on our list for a while now. We awoke on the day it was scheduled to find nothing but heavy rain on the forecast. But do we let that stop us? NOPE. We’re pacific-northwesterners. We have gear for that.

The Portland Japanese Garden is on quite a few lists, some of which are things like “most authentic Japanese gardens outside Japan.” It really is a beautiful place, and autumn isn’t a bad time to go – it definitely adds some variety to the color palette of our photos.

At the admissions booth, we picked up a scavenger hunt that Lucy worked on the whole time we were there. We walked just about every yard of path there, and found all the things on her map. Parenting Trope That Turns Out To Be True #173: kids love tasks.

Despite the downpour, this was truly a unique experience. It’s a nice, scenic, serene walk, and there are details to appreciate everywhere. Definitely worth seeing.
