#78: Take a Class

Brunch isn’t a destination, it’s a direction. You can always get better at brunch.

This is part of our 100 Things in 2016 challenge. Here’s the full list.

Last year I took a knife-skills class at Hipcooks, a training kitchen in northeast Portland. This year we wanted to do something together, and when we saw brunch on the menu, we booked it. We and a dozen strangers made a four-course brunch for ourselves, mostly from scratch, under the direction of a great cook.

This was fun! One of the most fun things about cooking is the social aspect, and this gave us a chance to interact with strangers while getting our hands covered in egg white. We’ll probably do something like this again next year.
