We like our bikes. Ever since we got them we’ve been looking for chances to use them, but it’s not always easy. Our new neighborhood isn’t especially bikeable, unless you go to the WSU Vancouver campus, but that’s covered with hills. Not so good for Becky’s hip.
This is part of our 100 Things in 2016 challenge. Here’s the full list.
But not too far away is the Salmon Creek Trail — three miles of pavement, without too much vertical. Perfect for all of us! So we loaded the bikes on the back of the car and drove 5 minutes to the trailhead.
It was cold. I mean, it was maybe 50, which is just fine if you’re walking, but wind chill is a real thing when you’re cruising at 10mph. But we had a great ride, and six miles is a good distance for Lucy and Becky. The trail itself is great, too; not too crowded, and even though it goes through a residential area, there was plenty of wildlife and scenery, and zero automobile traffic.
