We live in an incredibly scenic and friendly part of the world, and it would be a shame to stay indoors all the time. This year we wanted to do at least six meaningful hikes, and include geocaching where we could.
This is part of our 100 Things in 2016 challenge. Here’s the full list.
First up: Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge. We did this hike while both Grandma Dorothy and Will were still around.
Next: the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge, which includes the Cathlapotle Plankhouse.
Third: Whipple Creek Trail, wherein we tried to bring Hank on a long walk. He made it most of the way.
Near Albuquerque is the Petroglyph National Monument, with drawings that date back as far as 700 years ago.
Tomé Hill is only a mile from where Will lives, so we trek up it pretty much every time we’re there.
Lastly: Bob Straub State Park (no relation). This also counted towards our state park challenge.
