#56: Garage Shelves

Our parents seem to keep their garages organized and neat instinctively, so that it doesn’t seem to take any effort at all. We’re trying to get there.

This is part of our 100 Things in 2016 challenge. Here’s the full list.

It’s been a year since we moved into our house, and one of the last places we’ve turned our focus on making livable is the garage. We avoided this room so much, we don’t even have a “before” photo to show you. There were goat paths. It took an entire year of picking away at this to get it to a state where we don’t mind showing you.

We ended up reusing a bookcase from our old house, and a bike rack and some utility shelves we acquired from Home Depot. Now all our camping/outdoor gear is in one place, the food storage and appliance overflow in another, and all the rest is at least corralled. Stay tuned for some fine-tuning in 2017.
