I bought Becky a turntable for last Christmas, as an experiment in tactile music. This year we wanted to start building up a collection of records to play on it.

We scoured the boxes at a couple of thrift stores and got some donations from family, and ended up with some treasures. We had some ideas for where to go from there, but kind of ran out of gas.

So for now we have the seed of a cool vinyl collection. Our plan going forward is to grow it opportunistically, and have a collection of music we feel comfortable letting the kids select from (we’re not turning them loose on Apple Music, even with the explicit-content filter on).
