Earlier this year it was my turn to take Lucy on a retreat, and while I knew I couldn’t beat snowboarding, Lucy hasn’t been to Seaside in a few years, so hitting an old favorite (the ocean) in a new way seemed like a sure thing.

For this trip, we brought along Lucy’s best friend and her mom. Yes, that’s the same family Ben and Lucy met at Timberline. No, Lucy never gets tired of them.

We did all the good stuff: fish and chips at the Bowpicker (again), all the Lewis and Clark monuments (which tied into their current program at school!), walking on the sunny beach, flying kites, feeding seals, meeting an octopus, playing games, riding a four-seater surrey bike around town, elephant ears. The works.

We had a really great time with Lucy’s BFF and her mom, and we hope they’ll be joining us on further adventures!
