Last year, we found this amazing book with a bunch of scavenger hunts along the Oregon coast. This year, we resolved to continue solving them! We managed four.
This is part of our 100 Things in 2017 challenge. Click on the photos for a closer look!
Our first took place in the Eureka Cemetery, near Newport, in April. We had a nice, rainy time tromping around in the quiet, with only the long-dead for company.
Our next was on the very same day, in the center of Newport. It included such sights as the old city hall, and lots of buildings dating from 1890 or so.
The next day, we trucked out to Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area, and strolled up and down the trail to Communications Hill.
Then we headed back into town for some lunch. For our last quest, we walked around the familiar and historic bayfront district, and enjoyed the lazy sea lions.
Once again, this is a great way to get to know an area better. We thought we knew most of what there was to know about Newport, but we were wrong!
