We’ve set up recurring monthly donations to a few causes we believe in, but at the end of every year during the holidays we like to give a few one-time gifts, to spread our support around a bit. For this Thing, we have Will and Lucy browse through Charity Navigator and choose something they think is worthwhile – Lucy chose a women’s rights organization, and Will chose education for the blind.
This is part of our 100 Things in 2017 challenge.
Ben chose the PDX chapter of Operation Code, which helps train veterans for careers in the technology industry.
Becky’s choice is the Clark County Food Bank, helping to alleviate hunger in our own community.
Lucy picked the National Women’s Law Center, championing policies and laws that help women and girls achieve their potential throughout their lives.
Will’s charity is the Hadley Institute for the Blind and Visually Impaired, a distance-learning program for people with visual handicaps.
Bonus: Charity Navigator helped us find charities to give to, as well as providing the invaluable service of checking up on the health and honesty of non-profit organizations, so we donated to help them keep their service running.
