Let’s be honest: we’re not a very sporty family. Whether it’s playing or watching, we’re just not into competitive sports. We didn’t even watch much of the Olympics. But we do appreciate that sports are compelling and interesting, and we make sure to keep trying out sporting events so we can be amazed just like everyone else.

This year we attended the Big LeBOUTski, a roller derby tournament that was held at the Clark County Event Center, which happens to be about 2 miles from our house. The tournament involved quite a few teams, but the home-team (and the favorite, from what we could hear) was the Storm City Roller Girls.
We really enjoyed this event. Derby is action-packed, fast-moving, inclusive, athletic, intense, and just all-around impressive. Lucy is already asking if there’s a junior league near us, and I caught Will cheering a couple of times. In the end we all had a great time.
