#18: Live Dance Performance

Neither Becky nor I have a strong history in dance. We both have lifelong experience with theater and music, but dance just isn’t a thing we have a lot of experience with. Which is why we have this on our list every year: so we can learn.

This is part of our 100 Things in 2018 challenge. Make sure to click on the photos!

This year, we attended a performance of Alice (in wonderland) put on by the Oregon Ballet Theatre. We got seats in the second balcony at Keller Auditorium, which is about as far as you can get from the performers, but with actually a pretty good view of all the action.

It was really good! The costumes were amazing, and the choreography seems to have taken some cues from the Light Princess (which is our favorite show ever, if you get a chance to see it take it), with the use of some wires and harnesses and such, and the program listed this as one of the most challenging parts of this production.

Ballet is, in all honesty, still not our favorite form of live entertainment. While we can appreciate the effortless grace and athleticism on display, we just don’t have the background to truly get all the depth from the performance. But we’re getting better.
