Another entry in our yearly tradition of road trips! As you may or may not know, we divide these into two kinds: the kind where we have a definite destination in mind, and the kind where we don’t. This is the first kind, and our destination was Bayside, California, an 8-hour drive from home.
This is part of our 100 Things in 2018 challenge. Make sure to click on the photos!
Honestly, this trip doesn’t make for good writing. I was working half the time, Becky was researching furiously to find a school for Will (we had just learned that our local school district wasn’t going to work for him), and we spent much of our time just chilling in our little backyard cabin (which was charming, and gets its own post). But we did get out and explore nearby Eureka and Arcata, which are lovely towns.
One thing we do want to recommend for road trips is Roadside America. We found several interesting stops during our explorations, including a graveyard for prize cows, the westernmost bar in the lower 48, and an entire town full of Bigfoot attractions. We also found the home of the Bigfoot Burger in a tiny mountain town, and while we never thought we’d like eating a foot, this was one seriously good burger. We still think about it.
