Astoria Retreat

Ben and I have this delightful and necessary policy of giving each other “time off” every six months. (Which means we each get away twice a year.) Ben prefers to spend his time at home while I whisk the kids away on an adventure, but I have to actually leave the house to be able to relax and unwind.  This October I booked a room at the beautiful and historic Commodore Hotel.  I spent my time wandering around, watching Glee on my laptop, discovering restaurants, and reading.  Here are some scenes from my lovely couple of days:

My drive home was pretty epic: my two hour drive became six, because I tried to be like my Dad and take all the “back roads”.  Unfortunately, my car GPS isn’t quite accurate and I ended up having to do quite a bit of backtracking!  It was still awesome though.
