The kids spent their long holiday weekend down with the Swanks in Salem.  We hear they had a great time, but these are the only photos we were sent

Ben and I then drove on to La Pine, with a stop at the Detroit Lake Dam for a lovely walk break:

After another break for dinner in Sisters, we finally arrived at our private campground in La Pine.  My parents own this property and have set up a large camper onsite which has electricity and running water.

There’s also a great fire-pit and picnic area:

We spent the weekend relaxing: watching movies, reading, sitting by the fire, avoiding rainstorms, and going for long walks:

After one such walk, we returned to the property to find a herd of deer having lunch:

We did venture out for a real hike out to Flatiron Rock outside of Bend.

Overall, we had an incredible weekend.  There was just the right balance of relaxing and adventuring!  Thanks to my parents for letting us use the property.
